flawless acting ... All About Eve

The vacation I dreamed for and wanted, was crushed by the cold weather that swept over the entire country. It was unbelievable...we had 10˚ C at night in July!!! i couldn't do anything...no going out, no sipping a fresh on a terrace, no sunbathing, no forest trips...nothing. I just made my way from mom's home to my sis's and back... It never happened to me before. And it rained almost all the time. So...most of the time, I either ate, browsed the net or watched movies...with a lot of snacks beside... :)) So this is how I ran into "All About Eve".  I must confess I had it on the hard drive for a few months now and I got it because I knew it was one of the first movies where M. Monroe featured... Till I met Bette Davis...and it changed my point of view. It wasn't about M.M. anymore...It was Bette Davis's movie. She actually became my fave actress of all times. Fabulous acting and I loved the theme, because I understood it better being an actress. Loved the movie. It's definitely a MUST SEE! So, go grab it!...at least the rainy weather had also a bright side for me :)

Jesus Christ Superstar

We went to Cluj for a couple of days to see the final year of acting students...they had the same acting teacher as I had. And we need new fresh actors to reinforce our acting dept. So we've got to see the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar" and it wasn't bad at all, considering how difficult it is to sing those songs. It wasn't too much of acting, but at the end f the shoe, we had some preferences... Here are some random pics from the performance (made by Mate).

Pain Show

Being an actor has advantages and disadvantages also ( many disadvantages if you're an actor in Romania...to be more precise). Today I had such a nasty tooth ache, I thought I wasn't going to be able to do a theatre show...especially when I have to be super happy, to sing and dance for almost 3 hours... With a dentist visit and lots of painkillers I managed to do it. It's just sad when you realize you, as a person, as an employee, as an artist...don't worth a damn thing to the ones who lead this theatre. These are some pic of a Gabriela not so happy...

I had no sleep @ 6 a.m....

...so I pushed play...and I wasn't sorry: "The King's Speech" is truly a beautiful movie, with fabulous acting and great actors. I loved it! One film I have a lot to learn out of it! Bravo to COLLIN FIRTH, to TOM HOOPER! They all deserves their Oscars! And I must not forget Geoffrey Rush, who does an exquisite role!Loved it!

Premiere tonight...

Well, finally... the work we started in january, today, comes to an end. At 6 p.m. tonight, we'll start the premiere of the Visniec play. I am not going to translate the title of it into english. Probably only after a couple of months... There are just too many bad memories about it. Sorry.

If you need it, I will...but I doubt it. Along with this play work, these two months of 2011...were full of bad things, unpleasant, full with stress and surrounded by morons...and not only outside the theatre. It is said that you can't choose your family, but you're damn sure you can choose your friends. So this month I've cut some people out from my Friends List. But, that's life...I prefer to go on, thank you. That's the only thing I've learned in the last couple of weeks...along with the fact that this is a country ruled by morons, laws don't offer you any protection and if you don't know the right people and if you don't have lots of money, this country drowns you! This is not my home. And it's a thing that I'm fully sure of it.

Books were the only thing that made my existence better these weeks (along with the smile of the one who loves me). Love them more than I used to... I think this two months I bought around 12 new books. :) Reading kept me thinking at better places, better people, better moments to come.

Well, I hope MARCH will bring all the best things, beginning with spring! First of all I need to rest and surround myself with love and beautiful things, books, flowers and smiles!

...at 3 am I was sipping a bit of the "Breakfast at Tiffany's"... the 1961 movie with the famous Audrey Hepburn, is one of those movies I can never get enough watching and probably it will never get old. Love Hepburn's acting! One of my fave movies!

Movie(s) pt.2 The next two Wonders of the World...Marilyn and Niagara

The second movie I met last night, was one of the 1953's most known movies, "Niagara", a dramatic thriller, directed by Henry Hathaway. Unlike other films noir of the time, Niagara was shot in Technicolor and was one of 20th Century Fox's biggest box office hits of the year. The drama features Marilyn Monroe, Joseph Cotten, Jean Peters and others. I'm a fan of Monroe, so I did enjoyed seeing her playing a bad character.

“Chanel No. 5.”

And then I do agree with the staff at "Variety" that wrote in those times, << "Niagara' is a morbid, cliched expedition into lust and murder. The atmosphere throughout is strained and taxes the nerves with a feeling of impending disaster. Focal point of all this is Marilyn Monroe, who's vacationing at the Falls with hubby Joseph Cotten...The camera lingers on Monroe's sensuous lips, roves over her slip-clad figure and accurately etches the outlines of her derrière as she weaves down a street to a rendezvous with her lover. As a contrast to the beauty of the female form is another kind of nature's beauty - that of the Falls. The natural phenomena have been magnificently photographed on location.>>

behind the camera this time...

...just sticking my nose in the "behind the camera" bizz :))

The movie shootings went on, (and after almost a week of get away from Baia to Cluj), I finnaly came back and the second day I got to assist at the "murder scene" where I was only the photographer this time, laughting and having fun behind the camera :))

It feels good to be behind the camera (it's a total new feeling), it seams that your're going through all the emotions an actor goes, and you almost learn by heart his words better and better as a scene has more than a couple of dubles ( hope that's the term in english...).
