Pain Show

Being an actor has advantages and disadvantages also ( many disadvantages if you're an actor in Romania...to be more precise). Today I had such a nasty tooth ache, I thought I wasn't going to be able to do a theatre show...especially when I have to be super happy, to sing and dance for almost 3 hours... With a dentist visit and lots of painkillers I managed to do it. It's just sad when you realize you, as a person, as an employee, as an artist...don't worth a damn thing to the ones who lead this theatre. These are some pic of a Gabriela not so happy...
See ya soon and hopefully I'll be feeling better!

I had no sleep @ 6 a.m....

...so I pushed play...and I wasn't sorry: "The King's Speech" is truly a beautiful movie, with fabulous acting and great actors. I loved it! One film I have a lot to learn out of it! Bravo to COLLIN FIRTH, to TOM HOOPER! They all deserves their Oscars! And I must not forget Geoffrey Rush, who does an exquisite role!Loved it!

The Tourist...or Jolie and Depp

Interesting movie, interesting couple of actors, beautiful outfits and places to shoot a romantic/detective/adventure movie... Must be seen twice to collect all the details so you can frame all the action and the facts together. Nice makeup...and I'm not into Jolie at all...but I like Depp. They will manage to intrigue you! So, go ahead and give the movie a chance! :)

Hope your're having a great weekend!

movie(s) update pt.1

Since we got back from the festival in Braila, I only got out of the house once or twice ( when I really had to...). It was rainy outside anyway and we had some low temperatures too. I still feel very tired so I've been pampering myself with the house good cosy feeling, listening to Christmas carols (starting to get in the mood for Christmas☺), lighting scented candles, baking sweets, getting in touch with family, enjoying some good reads and discovering new (and old) movies.
One of these was "Eat, Pray, Love".
I heard a lot of good things about the book, I'm not sure if that's gonna be enough to make me buy it...but I saw the movie today. My bf fell asleep while watching it...(well, it's true he does that every time we watch a movie at a late hour...), but he admitted it was kind of boring... Well, one thing is for sure...I would also go for an year to travel the world, and why not, discover new things about people, places and myself! ☺
If you miss the "pretty woman" and you absolutely love Javier Bardem or James Franco, this two and (almost) a half hour movie, will open up your appetite for adventure and rediscovery.

...they even released a trio of fragrances branded with the three themes. "Eat" captures the scents of Italy and is food focused with notes of Italian lemon, basil and bergamot, plum, caramel, meringue and vanilla."Pray" goes for the spiritual with notes of incense, rose, patchouli, amber and musk. "Love" which showcases the writer's time in Indonesia includes notes of jasmine, sandalwood and mango blossom. The outer packaging using a similar design to the book cover.
Waiting for your comments on both the book and the movie!

RED

Seen the Robert Schwentke's new action movie "RED", starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich (these last two ones I loved the most), Mary-Louise Parker, and Morgan Freeman.

Based on the graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, the film centres on former black-ops agent Frank Moses (Willis), who reassembles his old team in a last-ditch effort to survive after his idyllic retirement is threatened by an assassin...Take a look!

Take a look!

and the premiere...

I've celebrated World Theatre Day on stage, as every actor should. Remember the play I was talking about in the last posts? Well...we finally came out with it. "The Wonderful World of Dissocia" it's written by Anthony Neilson about a young woman suffering from dissociative disorder. Working on it was not easy...all by yourself... but after 2 months it came out and the spectators liked it. Plus, my mom came a 9 hours train way from home to see it(me)! And I was really glad, it's always reconfortating when seeing family among the public! And God knows, I needed her smile so much! Thanks Mom! The best!
So in this play, I'm Jane...man...I don't know how to describe her in order to be "politically correct"... Well, she's going to save Lisa ( the damaged girl) from the sexual abuse that The Goat Man was going to apply to her... :)) So I'm taking over (the Goat man) for good! :D
It's interesting to see and funny at the same time. Soon I'll maybe post a video on the blog...
Will keep you in touch with that!
Enjoy the pics, and if you have questions, I'll be glad to answer!
Big hug, Gabriela
some romanian stuff about the show:

2010 WORLD THEATRE DAY MESSAGE: DAME JUDI DENCH

Theatre artists/lovers should consider this day as closest as their birth day...
Here it is the 2010 Theatre Day message for us:

"World Theatre Day is an opportunity to celebrate Theatre in all its myriad forms. Theatre is a source of entertainment and inspiration and has the ability to unify the many diverse cultures and peoples that exist throughout the world. But theatre is more than that and also provides opportunities to educate and inform.

Theatre is performed throughout the world and not always in a traditional theatre setting. Performances can occur in a small village in Africa, next to a mountain in Armenia, on a tiny island in the Pacific. All it needs is a space and an audience. Theatre has the ability to make us smile, to make us cry, but should also make us think and reflect.

Theatre comes about through team work. Actors are the people who are seen, but there is an amazing set of people who are not seen. They are equally as important as the actors and their differing and specialist skills make it possible for a production to take place. They too must share in any triumphs and successes that may hopefully occur.

March 27 is always the official World Theatre Day. In many ways every day should be considered a theatre day, as we have a responsibility to continue the tradition to entertain, to educate and to enlighten our audiences, without whom we couldn’t exist."

behind the camera this time...

...just sticking my nose in the "behind the camera" bizz :))

The movie shootings went on, (and after almost a week of get away from Baia to Cluj), I finnaly came back and the second day I got to assist at the "murder scene" where I was only the photographer this time, laughting and having fun behind the camera :))
It feels good to be behind the camera (it's a total new feeling), it seams that your're going through all the emotions an actor goes, and you almost learn by heart his words better and better as a scene has more than a couple of dubles ( hope that's the term in english...).
Here I am with two of the starring actors, up with Ionut Mateescu -who got full support with lost of kisses :))
- down, with Sanda Sawolski - she was one of the police officers.

...peasants that were interogated by the police... :))
