flawless acting ... All About Eve

The vacation I dreamed for and wanted, was crushed by the cold weather that swept over the entire country. It was unbelievable...we had 10˚ C at night in July!!! i couldn't do anything...no going out, no sipping a fresh on a terrace, no sunbathing, no forest trips...nothing. I just made my way from mom's home to my sis's and back... It never happened to me before. And it rained almost all the time. So...most of the time, I either ate, browsed the net or watched movies...with a lot of snacks beside... :)) So this is how I ran into "All About Eve".  I must confess I had it on the hard drive for a few months now and I got it because I knew it was one of the first movies where M. Monroe featured... Till I met Bette Davis...and it changed my point of view. It wasn't about M.M. anymore...It was Bette Davis's movie. She actually became my fave actress of all times. Fabulous acting and I loved the theme, because I understood it better being an actress. Loved the movie. It's definitely a MUST SEE! So, go grab it!...at least the rainy weather had also a bright side for me :)

Far from the Madding Crowd (1967)

I finished reading the book last week and I must say Thomas Hardy's 19th century novel "Far from the Madding Crowd", is truly an interesting book and a page turner. It requires a lot of patience to read it, until the whole intrigue is build up, but then you just can not think at anything else but "what's going to happen?"...it just subjugates you. And this is one thing I love about books. After turning the last page...I wanted to see if there was a movie made after the novel. So I found the 1967 version and finally last night I watched it. It's about 2h30min, so if you're not really into classics and have to do better things (like saving the world...), do no attempt to see the movie. On the other hand if you've read the book, it will be a pleasure to see how all the things and the characters come alive. The novel is vast, so from the start the movie couldn't explain all the details, that by the way are useful to know, because you'll understand the movie better. With a lot of patience you'll find, by the end of the movie, that it was worth watching it. And it's a truly remarkable experience to read the book first and enjoy the movie events after...(the right way to do it when it comes to screening a novel). So for your soul and mind, do yourself a favor and read a book!
